I am breeding a very rare cat that is smaller than average. Little angels that love to interact with people and make them happy. Very affectionate, playful and intelligent cats that want to be helpful, jump on higher places, including your shoulder, and avoid fighting at all costs. They have big green almond shaped eyes, big ears, short hair that feels like silk, and a light coloring “sepia agouti” similar to cougars. They were called Singapura - the Malaysian word for Singapore - but actually made in America by Tommy Meadows. She was a breeder of Abyssinian, Burmese and Siamese in CFA (Cat Fanciers’ Association) and created the Singapura from these ancient breeds. She told a fairy tale about “drain cats” from Singapore to get recognition. After it was revealed that these cats were sent to Singapore from the US, CFA maintained it did not matter whether they mated on the streets of Singapore or in Michigan. This led to massive inbreeding and gene loss because they do not occur naturally and outcrossing is not allowed. Today the health and survival of the Singapura is endangered. Genetic diseases are common, especially PK Deficiency  (see http://www.langfordvets.co.uk/lab_pcr_singapura_pkdef.htm). Kittens are born with an impaired immune system. To maximize genetic variability, insure hybrid vigor, and maintain a healthy gene pool for the longterm survival, I am outcrossing with house cats that are related to the foundation breeds - Abyssinian, Burmese and Siamese. To develop a strong immune system, I let kittens stay with their mother longer than usual. The best guarantee for a long and healthy life for Singapura cats and happy owners.
